SNP (Standard Number of Parts)

Had you heard of the term "SNP" before?

SNP stands for "Standard Number of Parts." It is used in any industry that produces a product, mainly in quantifiable units such as the number of parts. SNP helps us determine the number of parts required per package or shipment to fulfill the production planning of any company. It is also based on the supply loop or frequency, which determines the exact number of parts needed per package and the number of required packages. Ultimately, it determines the total TL (Truckload) to be used for the overall supply.

We already know that in all manufacturing companies, precise calculations need to be made to determine the quantity to be produced for a specific period and the requirement of external components to effectively utilize all resources while complying with "JUST IN TIME" production. Usually, tools like "MRP" (Material Requirement Planning) are used for this process.

What is MRP?

In today's highly competitive business environment, productivity is undoubtedly crucial. Companies of all sizes in many industries rely on MRP-based systems to meet customer demand for their products, control inventory, manage complete supply chains, reduce costs, and respond to market changes, including disasters, natural calamities, and supply chain disruptions.

Now, to better understand this process, let's explain what a "supply chain" is and what it entails:

In summary, it encompasses the entire process involved in a product, from the procurement and manufacturing of raw materials to the final resolution, i.e., the delivery of the item to the customer. Also known as "Supply Chain" in the market, the development of the supply chain includes barcode creation, as well as the storage and transportation of goods.

Therefore, ensuring customer satisfaction is necessary to generate more sales for your company. The more information your team has about the supply chain, whether theoretical or practical, the greater the opportunities to leverage your business exponentially.

The advantages of a well-developed SNP calculation shine here, as having specifically designed packaging for a part number saves transportation and storage costs while increasing productivity.
