It is the most commonly used steel for the manufacture of tooling in hot work operations and plastic molding; corresponds to a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel, and is characterized by:

  • Good hot resistance and thermal fatigue.
  • High toughness and ductility.
  • Good resistance to tempering.
  • Good hardenability.
  • It can be cooled with water.
  • Good resistance to abrasive wear, both in high and low temperature operations.
  • Good dimensional stability during heat treatment.
